Privacy policy

Here we explain in concrete terms what is collected on sporretimen.no, why, and what you can do if you want something changed or removed.

In short

  • Spørretimen is a hobby project, not a registered company. The data controller is Jan Sindre Heltne.
  • The forms for contact, guest suggestions and “be a guest” send the message directly from your own email client to post@sporretimen.no. We do not store these form submissions on the website.
  • Comments and ratings are stored in a database (Supabase) because they are displayed publicly on the episode page.
  • We use no analytics tools, ad networks or tracking cookies.

Data controller

Jan Sindre Heltne is responsible for sporretimen.no and the information processed here. Spørretimen is a personal hobby project with no connection to Jan Sindre’s employer, and is not currently run as a registered business. If you have questions about privacy, you can get in touch at post@sporretimen.no .

Comments

When you leave a comment on an episode, the name you enter and the comment text itself are stored in a database, along with the time. Comments are shown publicly beneath the episode under the name you provided — so do not write more than you are comfortable with everyone seeing.

The legal basis is consent: you choose to write and submit the comment yourself. If a comment is offensive, harassing or otherwise inappropriate, we remove it. If you want a comment with your name deleted, get in touch at post@sporretimen.no and we will take care of it.

Ratings

When you rate an episode, the rating itself (1–6) is stored together with which episode it applies to. To prevent the same person voting several times on the same episode, your browser stores a random, anonymous code locally (see “Browser storage” below). The code is not linked to a name, email address or IP address, and cannot be used to identify you.

Contact forms

The forms under Contact, Suggest a guest and Be a guest open a pre-filled email in your own email client when you submit. The content goes straight to post@sporretimen.no as an ordinary email — it is not stored in any database on sporretimen.no. The handling of the email itself follows the same rules as any other email to post@sporretimen.no.

Browser storage (localStorage)

The website uses the browser’s local storage — not traditional cookies — for two things:

  • Theme choice: whether you have selected a light or dark appearance.
  • Rating code: the anonymous code mentioned above, which prevents double voting.

Both are necessary for the feature you asked for to work, and are not used for tracking, profiling or advertising. The information stays in your own browser only and is not shared with third parties. You can delete it at any time by clearing the browser’s stored data for sporretimen.no.

We use no analytics tools (such as Google Analytics), no advertising cookies and no cross-site tracking.

Embedded content from YouTube and Spotify

The episode pages may show players from YouTube and Spotify. If you play an episode directly on the page, YouTube and Spotify may process information about you in line with their own privacy terms — that is outside our control. We use YouTube’s privacy-enhanced embed mode (youtube-nocookie.com), which limits this processing until you actually play the video.

Images

Photographs of guests and the host are either taken or approved by the people themselves, or made specifically for Spørretimen. We do not use images we do not have the right to publish.

Data processor

Comments and ratings are stored with Supabase, our database provider. Access is restricted by rules in the database (Row Level Security): visitors can read and add comments and ratings, but cannot edit or delete other people’s posts. Removal and moderation are handled by Jan Sindre.

Your rights

Under data protection law (GDPR) you have the right to:

  • be told what information is stored about you,
  • have incorrect information corrected,
  • have information deleted, such as a comment you have written,
  • complain to the Norwegian Data Protection Authority if you believe the processing breaches the rules.

For comments and ratings the simplest route is to get in touch directly at post@sporretimen.no — tell us which episode it was and roughly when the comment was posted, and we will find it.

Changes

If we change how the website processes information, we update this page and the date at the top.
