Better known as the artist Sturla. A songwriter and performer from Orkdal in Trøndelag with more than a decade in the business – The Voice, bands, a record deal with Sony Music Norway and the Norwegian Eurovision selection. Today he works shifts at a smelting plant alongside the music.
Sturla Fagerli Larsen, better known as the artist Sturla, is a songwriter and performer from Orkdal in Trøndelag. Over a career spanning more than a decade he has appeared on The Voice, fronted the band 22, signed a record deal with Sony Music Norway and taken part in Melodi Grand Prix, Norway’s Eurovision selection.
Sturla is known for Norwegian-language pop sung in the Trøndelag dialect, and is behind songs such as “Trondheim”, “Skår i hjertet”, “67” and “50”. He has also collaborated with Hanne Mjøen, and his music has been playlisted on both NRK P1 and NRK P3.
But the career has not followed a straight line. After several years in the music industry Sturla moved back to his home village and started working shifts at a smelting plant, while continuing to write songs and play concerts. What he learned from the record business, from television, from ordinary working life and from going it alone as an independent artist has since become an important part of his music.
